Automated External Defibrillators (AED): A critical tool to fight sudden cardiac arrest. ExxonMobil affiliates in Thailand

installed a total of 40 AEDs in its offices which includes three offices in Bangkok, the Esso refinery complex in Sriracha the gas production facility at KhonKaen, and all Esso terminals.

According to information provided by the Thai Resuscitation Council of the Heart Association of Thailand, the majority of sudden cardiac arrest incidents begin with an initial abnormal cardiac rhythm. This rhythm is potentially reversible if treated quickly with a controlled dose of electric shock by an AED. The Thai Resuscitation Council also confirmed that the use of an AED has a positive impact on the probability of survival when used together with basic life-saving techniques including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
