Malaria Day and ExxonMobil Nigeria did not fail to roll out its own series of activities to mark the 'day.' The activities designed and implemented to increase malaria awareness internally included: banner display across EM facilities in all locations, a malaria message from EM's Occupational Health Manager to all employees/contractors urging all to 'end malaria for good', a fifteen minute malaria stand down at all departments (including a quiz), a world malaria day poster competition for employees' children in Lagos, Abuja & JVO and a malaria community outreach for contractors at Port Harcourt shore base. Externally, EM collaborated with Health organizations to design different outreach activities. One of the programs was the 'Adopt a market' outreach with Preventive Health Managers which had eleven medical personnel (doctors and nurses) in attendance and provided free medical services to over a hundred and eighty members of Oniru community, Victoria Island, Lagos. Others events held included The World Malaria day Ministerial Press Conference and The Grassroots Soccer with Youth Empowerment Initiative in Abuja.
